First week
I have been illustrating and sketching since the first week of the new year. In addition, I also tried my hand at 3DCG. From the beginning of this year I am happy that I am healthy and have time for myself.
New Illustration
I posted my new color illustration on January 6. And I also published a sketch I drew as a practice for that illustration on the web.
On this date, January 6, I drew one color illustration plus two sketches before that. On this day I worked a lot.
Then, going back to the date, I made one sketch on January 3. This is my first drawing of the year!
In the past I was not good at drawing characters in analog. I couldn't make them as pretty as when I drew them with digital drawing materials. But these days I am getting used to it. The tools without any transformation or correction worked as a good practice for me. I will continue this habit.
Looking Back
I look back at the review notes I write for each illustration. This time the note is written about the order in which the roughs are produced.
Her voice will be recorded. So I hastened to draw this.
My recent illustrations are not good. I was not satisfied with this illustration either. Still, I could have published this illustration, couldn't I? When I was more inexperienced, I never published my failed illustrations. The minimum standard of my skill has been raised.
I did three rough drafts. First I drew the one on the left, then the one on the right. The one on the left is not a failure. There is a rough layout there. And the middle one is one step before the image I want to draw. Finally, with the rough on the right, I was able to get the shape I wanted to draw. However, at this point I forgot to give the illustration a story. She is in a meaningless pose.
I should have explained the illustration in writing before I did this illustration. That way I can select the background and what I want to convey in the illustration. If this is just a sketch, it is not necessary. I usually make a note of the elements to be placed in the illustration, the person's performance, and so on. But I didn't do that because it was so sudden that I decided to do this illustration.
I painted the pattern of her jacket with a special brush. Only the outline of the brush stroke is drawn. This looks like gold thread embroidery on a kimono. And the work was easy.
With this illustration I drew three roughs in a row. The initial rough sketch should not be deleted. There are pieces of the illustration I want to draw in them.
