Molting
I replaced the screen film on my tablet PC that I use to draw illustrations. The front covering is new, and the tablet PC itself looks brand new. I can use it with a refreshed and new feeling. Before the replacement, it was quite worn. The matte surface had become shiny. And there were holes in places. I should have replaced it sooner.
New Sketch
I did one sketch this week. It is a practice sketch for a color illustration I am working on.
I will be able to post the finished color fan art in the near future.
Looking Back
I look back at the review notes I keep for each painting. This time, I am going to talk about the color sketches I drew in practice.
This is a practice drawing. This iced coffee has a stainless steel mug, frosted handle, ice, and milk drink. It would have been nice if I could have practiced the texture, but I can't draw it well.
A stainless steel mug is an uncomplicated shape. But there is no end to what can be done to draw it correctly. I need to learn the perspective of a circle in order to properly determine the shape of the circle of the drinking spout.
There are still some draft lines drawn in pencil. These remain intentionally. I read in a sketch manual that this is often done in sketching. I tried it. It is possible to leave what I wanted to do. There are parallel lines on the handles. This helps to understand the three-dimensional arrangement.
The shading of the black handles did not work. I did not like to use a translucent brush or airbrush to paint them smooth. They complicate the layer compositing and are incompatible with later processes. I want to know how to paint with opaque brushes so that they look smooth. So in this painting, I tried to draw the border with large and small spots like tones. Hmmm, but this was not good enough.
I would like to have the skill to paint more beautifully abbreviated pictures. I painted the inside of the cup as it was, looking at the references.
I had practiced with a picture of this kind of drink once before. This was posted on June 28, 2021, two years ago. But this one looks better than the new one. Is my technique going backwards?
It was an exercise with much to gain. It would be good to have more color sketching exercises like this.
